As the old saying goes...when you stop looking for love, it will find you! It did! Jimmy and I were high school sweethearts from rival high-schools for two years 1973 through 1974. In 2008, I could not attend my high school class reunion due to business travel commitments, but I did respond to the request on Classmates to post pictures and memorabilia. One of the items I posted was a patch Jimmy gave me from his lettermans jacket in 1974. His cousin, Melanie Bradbury saw it...told Jimmy about it. He told her to "get her number!" He said, he'd been trying to find me for some time but that I had moved out of state.
Melanie sent me an e-mail...I asked her if he was unattached, she said yes, so I gave her my number. Jimmy called me on his 52nd birthday, August 26, 2008 just as I was about to give a system presentation to 26 client attendees! My face must have given me away as the room went dead silent...with all eyes on me...I said, I really would like to talk with you but I'm in a meeting and everyone is staring at me...I asked him to give me two hours and I would call him back. I did..we talked for an hour...he came to see me in Greenville over the Labor Day weekend...and we've been together ever since...just as though we've never been apart. And now, 33 years later we are engaged!
We are planning a small wedding with our immediate family and very close friends in attendance on Wednesday September 9, 2009 at 6:00 pm at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Gardens located in Belmont, North Carolina.
My sons, Adam & Stephen will be giving me away. My closest friend, Teresa DiStefano will be my Maid of Honor. Jimmy's brother, George will be Best Man and Connor, my grandson will be our Ring Bearer.
We are thrilled and so are our children, family and friends.
A Cocktail Receiption catered by Something Classic will be held on the Orchid Observatory Terrace following the ceremony.
As Jimmy's second grand-child is due shortly after our wedding, we are currently planning an abbreviated honeymoon. We plan to return to Florida following the wedding then fly from Ft. Lauderdale to San Juan, Puerto Rico on September 12th for a 5 day stay at the Caribe Hilton.
