In June of 2003 the USS ENTERPRISE pulled into Jacksonville, FL for a port visit. My friend and I decided that we were just going to go to the base club for dinner and drinks, but first we had to go to the ATM. As we walked up, the line was HUGE! We thought we would be smart and just walk up to the drive through ATM. All of the sudden, another man got the same idea and cut us off. So I politely stated (David will tell you I furiously yelled) (not true) that he was cutting. He turned around and right then and there I knew that I had met the man I was going to spend the rest of my life with. David says he was instantly overwhelmed by my beauty and bowed out graciously for my place in line. Although we didn't get together for some time after that, it was definitely love at first sight!
Keeping it simple is the name of the game. Neither David nor I want a big wedding so we have decided that an intimate gathering of our closest friends and family would be ideal. Due to the fact that said friends and family are scattered across the country, we have conveniently planned our wedding in Las Vegas. We figured "Hey, this will be a vacation for our friends, and oh, by the way, we are getting married that weekend too!". We will be getting married at a small community center in Summerlin. On the water, beautiful, serene and perfect. My bridesmaids are: Marlayna, Amanda, Katrina and Lindy. David's groomsmen are Matt, Josh, Judd and Kenny.
The reception is going to be held at the same place as the wedding. It will be a small, hor'dourves passed reception with a cake and champagne toast. Neat and simple.
We have decided that it will be cheaper for everyone to book their flight and room together. Websites like Hotwire.com, Expedia.com and Priceline.com have great prices for the combination of flight plus hotel room. Plus, I don't want to put a limit on where you can stay. If you want to go big....go BIG!!! If you would rather save money, then by all means, do that.
We are extremely excited to finally get married! Please share our joy with us on our special day.
